Electrothermal Heating Storage Control

Our client needed technology that would allow them to control electric thermal storage heat. Their plan was to make these large electric loads controllable via the internet to respond to the grid, market, and weather conditions. This saves the residential customer money on their heating bill, generates an income for the client, and creates a more stable grid.

I designed a range of products to retrofit the electrothermal heaters identified by the client. I worked on all aspects of the mechanical design; form, material selection for high temp applications, field installation instructions, and assembly drawings. The design and installation instructions were tested at an independent lab and approved for an ETL mark. The design was fully documented including an installation guide to receive this approval.

The heater control has been installed in homes in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.
